Composite Veneer/Bonding

Young man in sweatshirt and beanieBonding a tooth gives an alternative to veneers when your goal is to restore a tooth or teeth that have been chipped, cracked, misaligned or discoloured. It can be completed in a single visit, significantly improving the look of your smile efficiently.

The Procedure of Composite Veneer/Bonding

At your visit, there are a couple of simple steps involved. You’ll meet with your dentist, who will evaluate your oral health. Once we decide that bonding is the most suitable way to achieve your goal, we’ll get started.

The tooth is prepared by doing a light etching on the surface, then putting a bonding liquid on. Once it’s set, we’ll apply a plastic resin, which is then sculpted into the desired shape. The resin then sets and is smoothed and polished to a dazzling, natural appearance.

Keep in mind that the plastic resin used in bonding isn’t as strong as the enamel of a tooth, making it more likely that it can break, chip or stain. Typically, composite bonding lasts for 3-5 years before a repair is required.
